1.About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and the operator of the Route 66 Logbook app, an independent sole trader ("we", "us" or "I"). In these terms, "the app" means Route 66 Logbook.
By downloading or using the app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, please do not use the app.
2.Who can use the app
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By using the app you confirm that you can form a binding agreement with us, and that you will use the app in line with these terms and with all laws that apply to you.
3.Your licence to use the app
We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive and non-transferable licence to download and use the app on Apple devices that you own or control, for your own personal and non-commercial use. You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, resell or redistribute the app, or any part of it, except as the law allows.
4.Your account
You can browse the map without an account. To contribute and to keep a Logbook you will need to create one. You are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for activity that happens under your account. Please give accurate information when you sign up, and let me know at hello@route66logbook.com if you think your account has been used without your permission.
5.The map and the Logbook purchase
The map is free to browse. The Logbook, which includes automatic stop tracking, achievements, your profile and your full library, is unlocked with a single in-app purchase.
- The purchase is a one-off payment, not a subscription. It does not renew and it will not bill you again.
- Payment is processed by Apple through your Apple ID. We do not handle or see your payment details.
- You can restore the purchase on another device, or after reinstalling, as long as you are signed in with the same Apple ID.
- Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by Apple, not by us. You can request one through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Prices are shown in the app and may change over time, but a change will never affect a purchase you have already made.
6.Community contributions
Route 66 Logbook is a shared record built by the people who drive the road. When you add a stop, upload a photo, raise a flag or suggest a correction, you are contributing to something other travellers rely on. A few things follow from that.
What you contribute
You are responsible for everything you add. You agree to contribute only information you believe to be accurate, and content that is your own or that you have the right to share. You agree not to add anything that is false or misleading, unlawful, offensive, infringing of someone else's rights, or that is spam or advertising. You also agree not to add content that encourages trespassing, entering restricted or unsafe places, unsafe driving, vandalism or damage to property, or any form of harassment, hate or abuse.
If you upload a photo, you confirm that you took it or have the right to share it, and that it does not invade anyone's privacy. Please do not upload close-up photos of identifiable people without their permission, photos that feature a child as the main subject without appropriate consent, or photos that show people in private, unsafe or embarrassing situations.
Community guidelines
When you contribute, you also agree to follow our community guidelines, which explain in plain terms what can and cannot be added, including rules on accuracy, private property, photos, respectful behaviour and unsafe content.
The rights you give us
When you contribute content, you keep ownership of it. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, adapt and share that content within the app and in connection with running and promoting it. This licence lets us show your contributions to other travellers, which is the whole point of the app.
Contributions stay on the map
Because contributions form part of a shared, living record, the stops and information you add may remain on the map even after you stop using the app or delete your account. As explained in our privacy policy, after you delete your account these contributions are no longer linked to you and are shown without your name.
Moderation and reporting
You can report inaccurate, unsafe, inappropriate or infringing content from within the app, or by emailing hello@route66logbook.com. We review reports and may edit, hide or remove content where needed.
To keep the map accurate and welcoming, we may review, edit, hide or remove any contribution, and we may suspend or remove accounts that break these terms. We are not obliged to publish or keep any particular contribution.
7.Accuracy and safe travel
Route 66 changes constantly. Diners close, hours shift, signs come down and roads are rerouted. The information in the app is gathered from public sources and from the community, and we cannot guarantee that any of it is accurate, complete or current.
The app is a guide, not a substitute for your own judgement. Always check ahead before relying on a stop being open or a route being passable, and follow all road rules and signage. Never interact with the app while driving. You are responsible for your own safety and for the decisions you make on the road.
The app is not an emergency service, a navigation safety tool or an official source of road information.
8.Our content and brand
The app itself, including its design, code, name, logo and the original content we provide, belongs to us and is protected by intellectual property laws. These terms do not give you any right to use our name, logo or branding without our written permission.
Copyright complaints
If you believe content in the app infringes your copyright, please email hello@route66logbook.com with enough detail for us to identify the content, confirmation that you own it or are authorised to act, and a way to contact you. We may remove or restrict the content while we look into a complaint.
9.Third-party services
The app relies on services from other companies, including Apple, Mapbox, Supabase, RevenueCat, Expo and OpenWeather, and the map and certain features depend on them. Your use of those services may also be governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for third-party services, and their availability is outside our control.
10.The Apple App Store
These terms are between you and us, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the app. To the extent the app does not meet any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price, but otherwise Apple has no warranty obligation for the app. Apple is a third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you. You confirm that you comply with the Apple App Store Terms of Service and any usage rules set out in them.
11.The app is provided as it is
We work hard to make the app useful and reliable, but it is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise that the app will always be available, error-free or uninterrupted.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be excluded. Where those laws apply, our liability is limited, where permitted, to resupplying the app or the relevant service, or paying the cost of doing so.
12.Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss, or for any loss arising from your reliance on information in the app, from your use of the road, or from any third-party service. This does not affect rights that cannot be excluded under the law.
13.Ending your use
You can stop using the app at any time and delete your account from within it. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or use the app in a way that harms other users or us. Some sections, such as those about contributions, intellectual property and liability, continue to apply after you stop using the app.
14.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and where the changes are significant we will make that clear in the app. By continuing to use the app after an update, you accept the updated terms.
15.Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that state. If you use the app from somewhere else, you are responsible for complying with your local laws.
16.Contact
If you have any questions about these terms, please write to me at hello@route66logbook.com.
